Hey J
I hope you have been well. Let’s get
straight into it, shall we?
The first band I really want to
recommend is The Vamps. What more can I say other than they are great? I’m an
absolute sucker for real band music. Their genre of music would be best
described as Indie/Pop; however, due to each of their different musical
influences, they play a bit of everything. A gifted vocalist, a skillful
guitarist, a polished drummer and a talented bassist… what more can you want?
Bradley, James, Tristan and Connor are the four boys that make up The Vamps,
and no, they are not the next One Direction. All be it, they could be a
household name within the next couple of years. Make that months. Possibly even
weeks. Having just released the music video for their first single, “Can We
Dance”, they are already being played on British radio and TV, doing interviews
and mini tours. It is insane...

And now I come back to this post
about 3 months later (sorry, life got in the way, uni and all that), where they
have since released their single in the UK, back at the end of September, and
it went to number 2 in the official UK charts in the first week! What?! I think
this just goes to show they are truly talented and have an amazing fan base
supporting them, as well as a great team behind them. Living in Australia, I was
highly disappointed that I couldn’t get the single myself, but it has since
been released here on iTunes. The Vamps have also had radio play and radio
interviews on some of the best Australian Radio Stations. It is completely
mental.
I first found out about The Vamps, on
YouTube, when they did a cover of “Love Is Easy” by McFly with Carrie Hope
Fletcher in November 2012. After that I immediately had to check them out. The
band initially started with James wanting to make a band and he found Brad
posting covers on YouTube. They got together and months later they found Tristan.
From there, they started posting covers on YouTube and got signed to Mercury
records in November 2012. Come February-March 2013, they found Connor and
invited him to be their bassist. From their recent first single success, it is
obvious they have grown immensely over the last year by continuing to post
covers, play at summer concerts in the UK, and even tour with McFly earlier
this year on the McFly Memory Lane tour. They also supported Selena Gomez on
her London shows.

So what is next for The Vamps and
why should you go and check them out? As I said before, they play their own
instruments, write their own songs, Brad CAN sing, and they are all extremely
talented. I will insert the link to their music video for “Can We Dance” as
well as their YouTube channel so you can check them out for yourself, and let
me know what you think about them. As for what’s next... They have recently
been to the US and filmed the music video for their next single, and are in the
process of recording B-sides for the EP to release along with the second
single. They have also just released merch... you can check that out for
yourself, I am not going to comment on it. I believe their second single (which
we still don’t 100% know, even though they have left hints on their twitters)
comes out in January 2014, and I can’t wait to hear what it is. As for their
album, they have said in many interviews that it will be out in the UK in April
2014. The Vamps are also supporting Taylor Swift for her London dates on her
Red tour in 2014, and they are supporting The Wanted on their 2014 UK tour
also. I am slightly jealous that I can’t be there and see them live... but hey,
one day it will happen.
